Experience chart

A display, in early primary school, on which teachers record, in large, easyto-read letters, the experiences of or stories dictated by children just learning to read and write. By immediately displaying in writing a sentence dictated by a young child on a large chart or wall display, the teacher encourages the child and the rest of the class to read back the words just spoken. The process also encourages subsequent writing of words and phrases.
