Oral reading - American Education
A standard exercise and pedagogical technique in elementary (and some middle) school reading classes. By reading aloud to the class, the student allows the teacher to evaluate the student’s reading skills and identify such reading deficiencies as word or syllable omissions, insertions of nonexistent words or syllables, mispronunciations and inversions and reversals (for example, “b” for “d,” “pat” for “tap”). Some reading difficulties often signal learning disabilities requiring special education.
